Gold is a non-tool Metal, obtained by smelting Native Gold in a Ceramic Vessel or a Crucible.
Native Gold is an uncommon ore that spawns in all Igneous Stone.
Alloying and Smithing
While Gold can be used to create Double Ingots, Sheets, and Double Sheets, these cannot be crafted into Tools or Armor.

Gold is also used as an Alloy - both with Copper and Silver to create Black Bronze, and with Copper to make Rose Gold.
