Small Ores and Nuggets
Small ores can be found scattered around on the surface. These are samples of what ore veins are located within 35 blocks underneath. It is a sample of a vein in the top layer of stone or in the upper section of the middle stone layer in areas where the top layer is thin enough. Note: The maximum distance from the surface to a vein required for a small ore piece to generate is larger than the scanning range of the Prospector's Pick. If using the prospector's pick on the surface in an area where small ore pieces are found, and only negative readings are given, it means that the vein is deeper underground.
They can also be found using the sluice that will give ore based on what is present in the area.
Copper, gold, silver, and platinum native nuggets can also be found using a Gold Pan.
Depending on the type of ore, its smaller counterpart is either called a nugget for native metals, or a small ore for the rest. One small ore/nugget produces 10 metal units.
Ore quality
Ore veins are made up of a single type of ore, either poor, normal or rich in quality. When an ore vein generates , it has a 20% chance to be rich, a 30% chance to be poor, and a 50% chance to be normal. One poor ore produces 15 metal units, one normal ore produces 25 metal units, and one rich ore produces 35 metal units.
Falling blocks, from landslides and cave-ins will destroy ore and mineral blocks, including their drops.
Veins
Ores and Minerals can generate in two different shapes: cluster and sphere. The cluster is generated by placing several spheres, giving more complex shape. Other settings for veins include the size, density, rarity and valid height.
The lower tier metals also have surface veins variation, that are more frequent, but smaller and less dense than the normal veins.
Ore Generation
Ores are natural metal deposits that can be processed and turned into ingots.

In addition, these ores and minerals still exist, but do not currently spawn in the world: Galena (Lead), Jet, Microcline, Olivine, Petrified Wood, Pitchblende, Satinspar, Selenite, Serpentine
Configuration
ore_spawn_data.json is used to determine the world generation of ores. Other mod ores can be added .json file to have them generate with TFC's terrain.
