Obtaining
Black Steel is a tier 5 metal obtained by Alloying Steel, Nickel, and Black Bronze In a Crucible, welding it with Pig Iron, and then working it into Black Steel.
Tools, Weapons and Armor
Black Steel Tools have a durability of 4200 for most tools (Prospector's Picks have a third of this, at 1400, and Scythes have 50% more at 6300).
Black Steel Swords do 8 base slashing damage, Black Steel Maces do 10.1 base crushing damage, and Black Steel Javelins do 5.9 base piercing damage. Black Steel Shields, Swords, and Maces have 4200 durability, while Javelins have 420.
A full suit of Black Steel Armor provides 15 armor rating, with durability ranging from 550 base for the Black Steel Helmet to 800 base for the Black Steel Chestplate.
Alloying and Smithing
Black Steel can be welded on a Steel Anvil to make Double Ingots. 7 Double Ingots can be combined in an "I" pattern to make a Black Steel anvil. Black Steel anvils allow for Smithing of Black Steel tools and weapons which will receive bonuses as a player's smithing skill increases. Black Steel anvils allow for welding of Blue Steel and Red Steel double ingots to create a tier 5 anvil.
Black Steel is used as an alloy in Weak Blue Steel and Weak Red Steel.
